The Brilliant Club is an award winning national charity that exists to increase the number of pupils from under-represented backgrounds progressing to highly-selective universities.

They do this by mobilising the PhD community to share its academic expertise with state schools. To achieve this, they run two main programmes; The Scholars Programme and Researchers in Schools.

The Scholars Programme offers pupils in Key stage 2 to Key stage 5 the opportunity to work with a researcher to engage in a university-style course over the course of a term, which includes two trips to highly selective universities and a challenging final assignment.

Schools receive impact reports for each placement the school has undertaken, which includes feedback on pupil attainment and pupil performance against six key competencies.

A recent independent study, conducted by UCAS demonstrated that pupils that have taken part in The Scholars Programme are significantly more likely to progress onto a highly selective university.
