VNET English Professional Community – Cohort 2- New for 2019-20!

VNET is delighted to offer English Subject Leaders, who have not participated in our English Professional Community this year, the opportunity to work together in a second cohort in 2019-2020.

The Programme

Six sessions will be scheduled across the academic year, starting with a launch event on Thursday 12 September 2019.  The group would be facilitated and supported by Emma Adcock (VNET Associate).

The Purpose of the Group

The group would share good practice and the latest educational research.

Each session will focus on Quality First Teaching of English. The contents of these sessions will be driven by the participants; if expertise is needed, we will do our best to source it for you.

The group would use evidence from their own schools to drive improvement, supported by ideas and proven methods suggested by the Associate, by other members of the community and by guest speakers.

This group would share best practice, explore effective assessment processes. There will be opportunities to discuss strategies to improve outcomes, engagement and enjoyment of all aspects of English in the primary phase. There will also be opportunities to investigate curriculum design, effective subject leadership,  progression of skills and documents will be provided to support the monitoring of English.

The dates for the year are: (all meetings 1.30 – 4.00 pm, venues to be agreed)

  • Monday 18 November 2019
  • Tuesday 14 January 2020
  • Wednesday 18 March 2020
  • Thursday 7 May 2020
  • Monday 6 July 2020.

Next Steps

VNET schools are invited to offer this opportunity to a colleague in their schools. The cost of this is £125 + VAT per delegate.  We have 30 places available.  Once you have registered, we will provide you with further details for the first session on 12 September 2019.
