The VNET Curriculum Conference will be held at The King’s Centre, Norwich on the 18th January 2019 starting at 8:30 am and finishing at 4.00 pm

Want to be ready for September’s new Ofsted framework? You need to be at this event!

We are sure that this will be at the forefront of your minds over the coming two terms as you plan for the new academic year, so we are really pleased to have secured Ofsted’s Head of Research, Daniel Muijs, to come and give an insight into the new draft framework with a chance for you to also ask some questions.

As you will be aware Ofsted has proposed 4 new inspection judgements. Schools will no longer receive a separate grade for outcomes for pupils, rather focus will be on the substance of education and a broad curriculum, and there will be more involvement for classroom teachers. It is looking like the biggest change in years, so what a great chance to hear direct from a man who helped shape the development of the document.

Thinking about how to shape your curriculum both now and with an eye on the future? You need to be at this event!

While important, Ofsted cannot be our only focus. As school leaders we need to think beyond just the framework for this year, but rather about a curriculum for today that will evolve to provide the skills, knowledge and experiences needed for the children who will leave the system in 2030. As the OECD has set out in it’s Learning Framework for 2030, we must explore the types of competencies and also the profiles of teachers who can support children to achieve the outcomes needed for their future success.

We will be hearing from other great speakers from the Chartered College of Teaching, the Headteacher’s Roundtable, and many more influential educationalists about their take on the curriculum, the challenges that you may have to face as leaders in shaping teacher CPD to keep pace with an ever changing curriculum, and how you can take practical steps now to meet those needs whilst also be mindful of the bigger picture.

There will be a chance in the afternoon to take away practical examples of how schools from elsewhere in the country and across the world – as well as some within our own network – are designing their curriculum using very different methodologies to meet the needs of their students, as well as hearing about the challenges and successes they have experienced on their journey.

We have also secured a secret guest to deliver a fun packed closing address about the crucial role that technology can play in schools, classrooms and in CPD both now and into the future, and how you can be prepared to use it to your advantage. You won’t want to leave early and miss this.

Who is this for?

The day is targeted at Headteachers/Principals, CEOs, Senior Leaders and Governors. It will be particularly useful for Chairs of Governors, given the focus on big changes and school wide ideas. There will be content for all key stages, and speakers will be from a variety of educational backgrounds to ensure that there is something for everyone.
