A power of reading briefing will be provided online!  If you are interested please email nania.poulson@viscountnelson.net

Power of Reading is a fantastic whole school training project from CLPE (Centre for Literacy in Primary Education), which uses high quality children’s literature and proven creative teaching approaches to engage teachers and children in the literacy curriculum and develop a whole school love of reading and writing.

This event will provide more details about the programme and give an opportunity to see how the Power of Reading could benefit your school in 2020/21. Marion Dawe will show some of the resources and there will be an opportunity to hear from schools on the impact it is having.

We have found with the schools who took part in the project in Norfolk last year, that it has had a signifiant impact on engagement with texts, creativity, the strengthening of cross-curricular links and improvements in writing. If writing is at the heart of your SDIP then this really is an effective tool.

“High engagement across all year groups. Great evidence of writing progress in pupil books. High engagement with school library via very active and motivated Reading Advocates”.

“The course doesn’t just fire solutions to a problem in the classroom as other courses do, but thoroughly explains the theory behind the activities and how each will be of benefit. Many, many other reasons to recommend – it works!”

Massive improvement in children’s attitudes. They talk about the books they are reading. It is beginning to impact on writing outcomes”.
