Creative expression is a key aspect of 21st century life and vital for the wellbeing of us all. We are very proud that YNAT can provide an important and diverse platform for the young people of Norfolk to express their creativity and energy throughout the year.
The peak of the Trust’s yearly activity is the delivery of the Young Norfolk Arts Festival (YNAF), a vibrant series of events that consolidates our strong position in the County’s creative scene and enables us to inspire and engage with new and returning audiences and participants. YNAF 2017 launched on 19th June, and between 28th June and 22nd July, more than 60 events took place in 30 venues around the County. Over 3,000 young people participated in these events, which ranged from the massed Showstoppers choir at the Royal Norfolk Show to small gatherings of creative writers at Norwich Castle.
Many exciting events are planned for this year and years to come.
There are activities for primary and secondary schools in art-forms as varied as classical music to lm, spoken word to visual art, drama and dance to contemporary music. Diversity and inclusion are important principles for us and therefore the majority of our events and opportunities are free.
True to our motto – ‘by and for young people’, our YNAF Communications Team consists entirely of young volunteers who energetically promote, record and report on Festival events. With opportunities to train with our local partner organisations, including BBC Voices, the EDP, Future Radio and Writer’s Centre Norwich, the group spend the months leading up to the festival developing their skills ready to launch into action over the busy Festival period, and beyond in other events such as Norwich Sound and Vision.
Keep an eye on our website and our social media platforms for news of up and coming events and opportunities.
